Legendary Georgian chess player and five-time world champion Nona Gaprindashvili hosted a masterclass for convicts in two Georgian penitentiary facilities, the Special Penitentiary Service of Georgia said on Thursday.
Gaprindashvili met with the winners of an internal chess tournament among convicts of No 16 and No 12 facilities to run the masterclass.

She also handed certificates to the winners of the tournament and shared her experience with the convicts.
Her involvement comes as part of Justice Ministry’s strategy of sports management in penitentiary institutions, launched with the aim to improve health of convicts and promote their re-socialisation and rehabilitation process.
