The Investigation Service of the Georgian Finance Ministry has arrested a nurse in Georgia’s western Samegrelo region for selling fake Covid-19 vaccine documents, the body said on Tuesday.

Investigators found the nurse had illegally registered individuals as vaccinated - “without even visiting the clinic” - on the official website of the National Centre for Disease Control.

The Service said 15 citizens had been illegally registered by the offender in exchange for paying up to ₾300 (about $104/€99) for the service.

The crime is punishable by three to five years in prison.
