Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday congratulated the United States on its Independence Day by saying the date was a “symbol of freedom, democracy and commitment to common values” not only for US citizens but “for the entire democratic world”.

In his statement, the head of the Georgian Government stressed the recent history of Georgia was also a “history of the struggle for freedom”, pointing out the “strong support” of the “loyal friend and partner” it had in the US.

We heartily congratulate our strategic partner, the United States of America, and the friendly American people, on the 246th anniversary of their Independence. The fourth of July is a symbol of freedom, democracy, and commitment to common values not only for the American people, but for the entire democratic world”, Garibashvili said.

Garibashvili also highlighted the “deepened partnership” between the two states “in almost all fields and in all directions” throughout the 30 years of their diplomatic relations, noting the Georgian people would “always be grateful for this support”.

The unwavering support by the United States of America for protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country, the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Georgia, the strengthening of democracy in the country, the strengthening of defence capabilities and economic development strengthens Georgia”, Garibashvili stressed.

The PM also vowed his Government would continue to be committed to the partnership and related values, and wished US citizens “peace and prosperity” in his message.
