Georgian Central Bank launches pre-orders of collectible coins with Georgian kings’ portraits

The National Bank of Georgia has begun accepting pre-orders of collectible coins featuring Georgian historical figures under a series Kings of Georgia, the Bank announced on Monday. 

The NBG said the release of coins - with portraits of monarchs including King Bagrat III and King Parnavaz I - was planned for next year, adding their full retail price would be announced following their release.

Pre-orders for the coins will be available only through the Money Museum webpage of the NBG between July 5-18. Prospective buyers are asked to register online and pay ₾50 ($17/€16) for a silver coin and ₾1,000 ($349/€335) for a gold coin. 

Bagrat III was the first king of the united feudal Georgia between 975-1014, while Parnavaz I was the first ruler of the Kartli Kingdom and the founder of the Parnavazian dynasty.
