Bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Georgia and its European partners, the country’s European Union membership aspirations and the security environment in the Black Sea region were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and his counterparts from Norway, Montenegro and the Netherlands at the ongoing NATO Summit.

The officials welcomed the decision of the European Council on granting the European perspective to Georgia and the “positive steps” taken by the country on the path of its European and Euro-Atlantic integration, while also welcoming the decisions made at the NATO Summit, including on the alliance's support for Georgia.

The Foreign Ministry said officials had also highlighted Georgia’s role as a “strong partner” for the alliance, illustrated by its “active participation” in international peacekeeping missions.
During the bilateral meetings, Darchiashvili thanked his counterparts for their “unwavering support” for the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and its European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
