Georgian Defence Ministry marks Day of Injured Servicemembers

Major General Giorgi Matiashvili, the Chief of the Georgian Defence Forces, on Thursday congratulated military professionals on the Day of Injured Servicemembers and awarded them with symbolic gifts and diplomas.

The awards followed sports events dedicated to the date and involving seven types of para sports disciplines throughout the week at the Maro Makashvili Military Servicemember Rehabilitation Centre, located north of capital Tbilisi.

The injured servicemembers participating in the contests tested their abilities in basketball, jogging, shooting, table tennis, para-volleyball, weightlifting and roaming.

The Ministry has celebrated the Day of Injured Servicemembers since the date was initiated by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili last year.
