The Georgian Interior Ministry has launched an investigation into a case of physical and verbal assault on Khatuna Samnidze and Davit Berdzenishvili, two leaders of the Republicans opposition, the Georgian Public Broadcaster reported on Monday.
Samnidze and Berdzenishvili were attacked by unknown individuals in the vicinity of the Kashveti Church of St. George at Rustaveli Avenue earlier during the day.
Samnidze told reporters the assailants had initially asked her and Berdzenishvili to talk about politics, before committing verbal and physical abuse against the party members.
