Georgia’s Border Police Chief hosts US Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State

Major General Nikoloz Sharadze, the Head of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs' Border Police force, discussed ongoing joint projects and plans for future cooperation with Kathryn Insley, the United States Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Security, and  representatives of the Export Control and Border Security Programme on Saturday.

The Interior Ministry said the officials had inspected the existing infrastructure at the Border Police base  located in the Black Sea port city of Poti, and visited the Joint Naval Operations Management Centre.

The visiting group included Ramaz Papidze, the Director of the Coast Guard Department, Shota Mirotadze, the Head of the Joint Management Centre for Maritime Operations, as well as Julia Khersonsky, the Strategy and Planning Team Leader of Export Control and Border Security Programme, Jaclyn Kellon, the EXBS Programme Manager, and Rosie Petrov, the EXBS Regional Adviser.
