A team of Canadian photographers is on a visit to Georgia's various tourist sites to create photo albums about the country’s tourism potential as part of an international media project, the Georgian National Tourism Administration said on Saturday.

Hosted in Georgia by the GNTA and the Georgian Embassy in Canada, the tour, run under the Take Your Seat project, is hosting the photographers in the Black Sea city of Batumi, highland towns of Mestia and Stepantsminda in the north, as well as locations in the west, east and south of the country.

Our goal is to introduce as many people as possible to Georgia's tourism potential [...] we need to diversify tourism markets and attract more high-spending tourists. To achieve this we are currently hosting Canadian photographers. The aim of the project is to prepare a photo album about Georgia's tourism potential,” Medea Janiashvili, the Acting Head of the GNTA, said.

Randy VanDerStarren, a photographer visiting the country as part of the project, congratulated Georgian citizens on Independence Day on Thursday and said Take Your Seat had already travelled to 14 countries around the world.

VanDerStarren said visiting different parts of Georgia and meeting with people had convinced the group the country was “distinguished by its culture, hospitality and warmth”.

Photographs taken by the group in Georgia will be printed for a Georgian-Canadian album under the project, set to be published to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states.
