Salome Zourabichvili, the Georgian President, on Thursday said her country “stood by the Canadian people” amid devastating wildfires that have burned 3.8m hectares of land in the country since late April.

Georgia stands with the people of Canada in this difficult time.
An area 12 times the 10-year average for this time of year has been affected, official sources said, with millions in North America advised to wear masks due to severe air pollution caused by the fires that have already displaced thousands.
Much of the smoke is coming from Quebec, where 150 fires are burning and over
15,000 individuals are expected to be forced to evacuate in the province.
