Deputy economy minister discusses potential for hosting m&i business tourism annual meeting in Georgia

The prospects of holding the annual meeting of m&i Forum, the association of the largest forums of the business tourism industry, in Georgia next year was discussed by deputy economy minister Mariam Kvrivishvili and representatives of the association who visited  the country on Friday at the invitation of the Georgian national tourism administration.

Medea Janiashvili, the acting head of the administration, and Levan Japaridze, the head of the convention and exhibition bureau of the state body, also featured in the meeting where the parties noted development of business tourism in the country being a government priority. 

Kvrivishvili said hosting the annual meeting would mean visits by up to 100 influential event organisers to the country who would be introduced to the domestic private sector and tourism infrastructure. 

“As a result, we expect that our country will host a number of international-level events, which, in turn, will have a positive impact on the promotion of Georgia and the strengthening of the economy",  Kvrivishvili said in her comments.

The meeting on Friday followed introductions of the visiting representatives of m&i Forum to the business tourism potential of Georgia, with the professionals noting the country’s potential to successfully host high-level international forums and conferences.
