Expanding the introduction of the Minecraft: Education Edition software in Georgian schools and opportunities for Georgia to be involved in Microsoft’s global initiatives were discussed in a meeting between the Georgian Education Minister Mikheil Chkhenkeli and Microsoft representatives at the Education World Forum in London on Monday.

Chkhenkeli and representatives of the corporation also discussed the introduction of a new eSports programme, with the Minister highlighting the importance of technology integration at all levels of education, the Ministry said.

Microsoft representatives thanked Chkhenkeli for “fruitful cooperation” and reaffirmed their readiness to further support the Georgian education system.

The cooperation between Microsoft and the Georgian Ministry led to the introduction of Minecraft: Education Edition - a version of a popular videogame - at Georgian schools over the recent years.

Within the forum, Mikheil Chkhenkeli held meetings with Rick Herman, the Vice President of Education at Microsoft, Mark East, the General Manager for Microsoft Education at Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Alexa Joy, the Microsoft's Director of Digital Transformation and Skills Development.
