Questions of deepening education and science cooperation between Georgia and the United Kingdom were discussed by Mikheil Chkhenkeli, the Georgian Education Minister, and Nadhim Zahawi, the United Kingdom Secretary of State for Education, on the sidelines of the Education World Forum in London on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the Georgian Minister invited the British officials to Georgia, the Ministry announced earlier today, adding the British Council had organised the visit of the Georgian delegation to the London Forum.
Chkhenkeli held several high-level meetings within the Forum, including with Rick Herman, the Vice President of Education at Microsoft, Mark East, the General Manager for Microsoft Education at Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Alexa Joy, Microsoft's Director of Digital Transformation and Skills Development.
The World Education Forum this year gathered 112 officials and company representatives from across the world.
Expanding the introduction of the Minecraft: Education Edition software in Georgian schools and opportunities for Georgia to be involved in Microsoft’s global initiatives were discussed in a meeting between the Georgian Education Minister Mikheil Chkhenkeli and Microsoft representatives at the Education World Forum in London on Monday.
The European Commission has allocated €1 million for a feasibility study on Georgia joining Erasmus+, a European Union programme supporting education, training, youth and sport in Europe.
The United Nations Children's Fund will be “actively involved” in development and implementation of the School Nutrition Programme in Georgia, after the Georgian Education Minister Mikheil Chkhenkeli and Ghassan Khalil, the UNICEF representative in the country, on Wednesday signed a memorandum of cooperation for the initiative.
