Georgian and European Union officials on Monday marked Europe Day, commemorating the historic 1950 Schuman declaration that laid out a vision for a peaceful postwar Europe and led to the formation of the EU.

EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell noted the “shared values” between the Union and Georgia, and reaffirmed European solidarity with the country, as well as with Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian invasion of the latter.
The European Union is standing by Georgia. In support of building a strong, prosperous and democratic country. During times of Covid and other crises. And in our unwavering support for Georgia’s independence and territorial integrity. And we will continue to do so. And we will continue to count on Georgia as our friend and partner", Hartzell said.

On the occasion of the date, the Delegation of EU to Georgia will premiere Europe and Me, a documentary showing people from four regions of Georgia “sharing the European values”, on its Facebook page.
"What we celebrate in Georgia on this special day is our close partnership and the values we have in common. With this in mind, we would like this year to show you how European values are shared by different people of Georgia. A documentary film from four beautiful regions of Georgia reflects our shared values: diversity, freedom, equality, and democracy", the Delegation said.
