Ukrainian citizens have named Georgia among the top four countries supporting the country in its defence against the ongoing Russian invasion in a survey, Yuliya Ovchinnikova, an MP from the Verkhovna Rada, told the Georgian news agency Interpressnews on Friday.

The Ukrainian MP said in a survey by the International Republican Institute, citizens of her country had named Georgia as the fourth-largest provider of support to the country after Poland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Ovchinnikova said the poll showed the “faith of the Ukrainian people in Georgia,” adding the results would “continue to inspire the Georgian people to support Ukraine.”

I believe that the people can always influence the position of the Government, the Parliament and the President, and determine the development vector of the country,” Interpressnews cited the MP as saying.

In the interview, she also expressed gratitude toward Georgian MPs who recently visited Ukraine to observe the effects of the invasion and sites of the reported war crimes committed by Russian troops.

Led by the Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, the delegation involved lawmakers from the ruling party and the opposition, with the exception of the United National Movement - the largest opposition party which opted to visit Ukraine on a separate trip.

Last month, figures by the National Post of Ukraine ranked Georgia in the first place among states sending humanitarian aid to the country via mail.
