Kakheti province to host charity run for Ukraine next month

A charity competition involving Ukrainian citizens, Georgian athletes and ordinary citizens will take place in Georgia’s eastern Kakheti province next month, the International Foundation of Sport, Tourism and Youth announced on Friday.

Organised by the Foundation, the race - entitled Run for Ukraine - will start on June 5 on the Telavi-Kvareli highway, with participants taking the start at a spot where the road leading to Lopota Lake from the highway originates.

Those joining the race will compete over a 10-kilometre stretch, while various other sports, entertainment events and an exhibition of handicrafts made by Ukrainian children will also be included in the programme for the charity.

Organisers said registration for the event would be open until June 4, with the run limited to 5,000 participants and featuring a ₾30 ($9.93/€9.39) entry fee. Money raised from the fees will be donated to the Ukrainian families affected by war.
