Ongoing reforms and future plans for the development of the Georgian economy, as well as the Government’s economic policy were in focus of a meeting between the Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili and members of the American Chamber of Commerce, the Ministry said on Friday.
While discussing the importance of bilateral relations, Davitashvili mentioned the United States had “always supported Georgia” as a “key strategic partner” in “many directions” and expressed interest for Georgia to sign a free trade agreement with the US.
Davitashvili noted the main direction of Georgia’s economic policy was to strengthen economic relations with the European Union and the US, said he hoped more American companies would become interested in Georgia’s liberal business environment.
He also cited business incentive programmes implemented by his Government with the assistance of the Produce in Georgia state programme.
Founded in 1998, the American Chamber of Commerce in Georgia is the largest international business chamber in the country with up to 200 members.
The organisation works to promote US-Georgia ties and development of the business environment in Georgia.
