Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili and her Moldovan counterpart Maia Sandu discussed the latest developments in Moldova on Thursday.
During a telephone conversation, Zourabichvili expressed solidarity with Moldova, saying the “European path is what brings us together.”

For her part, Sandu thanks Zourabichvili for support, during “these difficult times for the entire region.”

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met Toivo Klaar, the Co-chair of the Geneva International Discussions and the European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, in Tbilisi on Thursday to discuss the ongoing war in Ukraine, the Russian occupation of two regions of Georgia, and the security environment and challenges in the South Caucasus region.
Roberta Metsola, the President of the European Parliament, on Thursday said the lawmaking body welcomed the recently submitted formal European Union membership bids from Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss on Wednesday said Western partners “must ensure” countries like Moldova and Georgia have the “resilience and the capabilities” in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Thursday said the “brutal invasion” of Ukraine by Russia had demonstrated the need for NATO to provide support to countries including Moldova and Georgia.
