The Tbilisi-based Ilia State University has offered free classes of English-language Civil Engineering Bachelor programme for the 2022-2033 academic year to fifteen Ukrainian citizens in Georgia.

In a statement, the University said the initiative was supported by the Infrastructure Construction Companies Association which would offer paid internships to fifteen Ukrainian students enrolled in the program during the 2022-2023 academic year.

The programme is open to Ukrainian citizens who are students of an authorised higher education institution and a high school graduate of Ukraine, with further application and selection procedures available on the official website of the University.

The move follows other initiatives by Georgian educational institutions to offer classes students from Ukraine who have been stranded in the country by the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in February.

Established in 2006, the ISU is a public research and comprehensive higher education institution in Georgia, offering research opportunities in social sciences, humanities, life sciences, earth sciences, and hard sciences.
