Covid-19 cases surge in Georgia, daily infections stand at 11,039

Georgia has reported 11,039 new cases of coronavirus, 5,199 recoveries and 42 deaths in the last 24 hours. The daily positivity rate stands at 17.28%.

A total of 69,161 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia.

Overall, 63,875 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 38,686 of them were rapid tests, while the remaining 25,189 were PCR tests. 

Georgia has had a total of 1,040,461 Covid-19 cases since February 26, 2020. 

956,627 of the 1,040,461 infected individuals have recovered, while 14,673 have died from the virus.

The new 11,039 cases were recorded in: 

  • Tbilisi - 6,027 cases 
  • Adjara - 1,167 cases 
  • Imereti - 1,323 cases
  • Kvemo Kartli - 512 cases 
  • Shida Kartli - 475 cases 
  • Guria - 218 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 500 cases 
  • Kakheti - 366 cases
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 203 cases
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti - 208 cases
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 40 cases

4,462 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 989 of them are in intensive care units. 275 patients are on artificial ventilation. 

62,778 individuals are undergoing treatment at home.

1,317,488 individuals in the country have received at least one dose of Covid-19 the vaccine so far, while 1,205,638 have been fully vaccinated.
