Georgia reports 7,947 new cases of coronavirus, 31 deaths

Georgia has reported 7,947 new Covid-19 cases, 5,550 recoveries, and 31 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past 14 days increased to 13.08%.

Overall 77,049 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia.

A total of 35,082 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 20,608 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 14,474 were PCR tests. 

1,059,392 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Georgia since February 26, 2020.

A total of 967,585 of 1,059,392 patients have recovered, while 14,732 have died from the virus.

Overall, 1,532 cases of the Omicron variant have been confirmed in the country as of January 24.

The 7,947 new cases were recorded in:

  • Tbilisi - 4,496 cases 
  • Adjara - 1,352 cases 
  • Imereti - 857 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli - 282 cases 
  • Shida Kartli - 266 cases 
  • Guria - 100 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 215 cases 
  • Kakheti - 180 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 98 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti - 93 cases 
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 8 cases

A total of 4,618 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 987 patients are in a critical condition out of which 273 are on artificial ventilation.

70,370 people are undergoing treatment at home. 

Overall, 1,318,977 individuals have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,207,407 people have been fully vaccinated.
