Georgian, Armenian Prosecutors discuss enhanced cooperation

Prospects of enhanced cooperation in the legal field between Georgia and Armenia were discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between Prosecutor General of Georgia Irakli Shotadze and his Armenian counterpart Artur Davtian.

Shotadze, who is on an official visit to Armenia, noted further developing the cooperation in the field was “important” for the security of the two countries, and especially for the “effective fight” against transnational crime.

The Prosecutor General of Armenia underlined the close cooperation between the agencies of the two countries allowed the issues related to mutual legal assistance and extradition to be resolved in a “timely manner”.

Shotadze and Davtian also discussed the recent achievements and challenges in the field of criminal law in Armenia and Georgia, including the protection of citizens' rights and the importance of a joint effective fight against illegal border crossings, the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia said.
