The Catholicos Patriarch of Georgia on Monday offered his condolences to families and relatives of the Georgian volunteers killed in Ukraine last week amid the ongoing Russian invasion.
In the letter, the leader of the Orthodox Church of the country extended his condolences and said the war had “unfortunately taken the lives of our compatriots again,” the press office of the Patriarchate of Georgia said.

In total, nine Georgian volunteers have been killed in Ukraine since Russia’s invasion of the country in February.
A fourth Georgian volunteer has died in combat action near the Ukrainian city of Irpin, the Georgian Foreign Ministry confirmed to Radio Liberty on Saturday.
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili expressed his condolences over the death of three Georgian citizens in Ukraine on Saturday.
Giorgi Zakarashvili, the Ambassador of Georgia to Ukraine, said the Georgian side was “actively cooperating” with the relevant structures in Ukraine to ensure the transportation of the bodies of two Georgian volunteers who had died in war in Ukraine.
Three Georgian volunteers were killed and one wounded in the war in Ukraine on Saturday, Giorgi Zakarashvili, the Ambassador of Georgia to Ukraine, said.
