Law enforcers of the Anti-corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia have arrested the Chief Accountant of the Gori Municipality Culture and Tourism Development Promotion Agency, the state authority announced on Thursday.
The SSS said the official had misappropriated ₾143,985 ($46,900/€42,992) through unlawful transfers for “various purposes” to his personal bank accounts as well as a betting account.
The crime is punishable by four to seven years in prison, or by deprivation of the right to hold office for up to three years.
