Police have detained four individuals for the misappropriation of state-owned property by fraud, announced the Georgian Chief Prosecutor’s Office.
Police have determined that the detainees were systematically preparing forged documents and by submitting them to the National Agency of Public Registry fraudulently acquired state-owned lands in the village of Krtsanisi, Gardabani District and in Ponichala District of Tbilisi, between 2016-2019.
Members of the organized group fraudulently seized 49,644 square meter state-owned land, causing about GEL 700,000 material damage.
An investigation is underway to identify other individuals involved in the crime.
The crime is punishable by seven to 10 years imprisonment.
