Georgia has made tangible progress toward European Union integration, Parliament Vice Speaker Archil Talakvadze said on Monday as Georgian authorities received the questionnaire for the country’s EU membership.
Talakvadze said his Government would ensure “the highest consolidation” of information, experience and advice to complete the questionnaire “timely and qualitatively.”
The steps taken by the Georgian Government with the support of the public in previous years - when we got the chance to sign the Association Agreement [with the EU in 2014]; when we received the visa-free travel with Europe; when we signed the Free Trade Agreement; when we applied for a candidate status - indicate that the work of the many years is developing well. Georgia has made tangible progress towards EU integration,” the Parliament official said.
Oliver Varhelyi, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, handed over the questionnaire to Georgia’s Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Monday.
