Ukraine war, Black Sea security, Georgia’s EU bid discussed by President Zourabichvili, European Parliament delegation

The current military actions in Ukraine, the situation in the Russian-occupied territories of Georgia and the security issues in the Black Sea region were discussed at a meeting between President of Georgia Salome Zurabichvili and a delegation of the  European Parliament in Tbilisi on Monday.

The visiting delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Security, as well as the Defence Subcommittee met Zourabichvili at the Orbeliani Presidential Palace, where the sides also discussed developments of the process of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova’s European Union membership applications

Zourabichvili stressed Georgia's “European choice” and noted the EU membership questionnaire was expected to be handed over to the Georgian authorities on Monday, marking “an important step forward” on the country’s “path to Europe”, the Presidential Administration said.

Zourabichvili and the visiting delegation also discussed the process of national reconciliation in Georgia, launched by the President and aiming to facilitate a reduction of polarisation between players of the local political scene.
