The United States is the most important strategic partner for Georgia and by appointing former Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani as Ambassador to the US the Georgian Government wants to take the existing relations to “another level”, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said on Monday in a briefing.
Garibashvili thanked Zalkaliani for his work, pointing out his service “in various positions for 30 years.”
The United States is our most important strategic partner, and [...] when our Government appoints a person with such rich diplomatic experience to such a responsible position, that says it all. Our task, our desire is to take the relations between our countries to another level, and I believe that David Zalkaliani will be able to do it successfully,” Garibashvili said.
The Prime Minister announced on Monday Ilia Darchiashvili, the former Head of the Government Administration, had been appointed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, taking over the position from Zalkaliani.
