PM Garibashvili appoints deputies

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, who was confirmed in the post by parliament on Monday, has appointed his deputy prime ministers earlier today.
The new appointees are Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani and Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani; Zalkaliani occupied the post under the previous PM Giorgi Gakharia, while Machavariani has replaced former minister of Infrastructure Maia Tskitishvili in the role.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Ali Asadov as well as Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pasinyan, have congratulated Irakli Garibashvili on his recent confirmation as Georgia’s new prime minister.
Georgian PM nominee Irakli Garibashvili says that the resumption of order in the country, coronavirus vaccination and drafting a 10-year ‘ambitious plan’ for state development will be the major priorities of the new government in the first 100 days. Garibashvili also said that the ‘return of the destructive forces to the constitutional frames’ will be on the top of the agenda.
The candidate for the Georgian premiership Irakli Garibashvili has named his cabinet members earlier today which includes two new faces - candidates for the minister of infrastructure and defence. Maia Tskitishvili, who has served the country’s regional development and infrastructure minister since 2018 has resigned and her deputy, Irakli Karseladze, has been nominated as her replacement.
The Georgian Dream ruling party has nominated Defense Minister Irakli Garibashvili, 39, for the premiership earlier today, following the resignation of Giorgi Gakharia. This is the second time the Georgian Dream has nominated Garibashvili for the premiership. Initially he served as PM between November 2013 and December 2015. He was the second PM under the Georgian Dream leadership, replacing the founder of the party Bidzina Ivanishvili in the role.
Georgian Finance Minister and deputy Prime Minister Ivane Matchavariani has announced on social media his resignation. "I have to say that after almost three years of working as the Minister of Finance, I was planning to resign at the end of last year, but due to the 2021 crisis budget approval procedure and important negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, I decided to wait for several months".
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has appointed Lasha Khutsishvili Minister of Finance and Rati Bregadze Minister of Justice at today's government meeting. Khutsishvili previously held the position of Deputy Finance Minister, while Bregadze was the Deputy Minister of Defence.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has appointed two new Vice-Prime Ministers earlier today in the government session. Georgian Minister of Culture, Sport and Youth Tea Tsulukiani and Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Levan Davitashvili will take the post starting today.
