Georgia reports 1,296 new cases of COVID of 22,001 tests

Georgia has reported 1,296 new cases of coronavirus, 4,127 recoveries and 45 deaths in the past 24 hours.
34,238 remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia.
22,001 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 14,145 of the 22,001 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 7,856 were PCR tests.
The country has had 910,456 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.
6.93 per cent of tested individuals had Covid-19 in the past 14 days.
863,076 of the 910,456 patients have recovered, while 13,116 have died from the virus.

The new 1,296 cases were recorded in:
- Tbilisi - 600 cases
- Adjara - 122 cases
- Imereti - 197 cases
- Kvemo Kartli - 85 cases
- Shida Kartli - 56 cases
- Guria - 34 cases
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 64 cases
- Kakheti - 71 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 31 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti - 31 cases
- Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 5 cases

5,774 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 1,430 of the 5,774 patients are in critical condition. 314 of the 1,430 critical patients are on artificial ventilation.
27,393 individuals are undergoing treatment at home.
35,340 individuals are in self isolation.
1,255,593 individuals have received at least one dose of the vaccine in the country so far, of which 1,080,162 have been completely vaccinated.
Georgia has reported 2,784 new cases of coronavirus, 2,070 recoveries and 53 deaths in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate for the last 7 days stands at 6.67%.
The Interagency Coordination Council has not yet decided to open night clubs thus events in the facilities are not allowed, the Labour Inspection Service of Georgia reports in response to the information announced earlier that night clubs in Georgia open on December 17.
Deputy head of Georgia’s National Center for Disease Control, Paata Imnadze, says that the new variant of coronavirus dubbed Omicron is ‘very likely’ to infect many, ‘particularly unvaccinated’ individuals, and there will be more of a need for hospital beds than at present.
Georgian health officials have said that it is 'necessary' to administer Covid-19 vaccine booster shots in order to prevent the spread of the new Omicron variant in the country.
Georgia confirmed the first two cases of the new Omicron variant of coronavirus earlier today. The new strain, which was detected in South Africa last month, has been classified as a ‘variant of concern’ by the World Health Organization (WHO)The WHO says that Omicron has an ‘unprecedented number of spike mutations’, which is concerning due to the potential impact on the trajectory of the pandemic.
Georgia has reported 3,282 new cases of coronavirus, 3,263 recoveries and 53 deaths over the last 24 hours. The weekly positivity rate for tested individuals stands at 6.24%.
