Head of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party Irakli Kobakhidze says that ‘despairing comments’ made by opponents on the GD yesterday’s large rally in central Tbilisi 'indicates the success of the assembly.’
He stated that thousands of people gathered in Tbilisi yesterday to express support for the GD ahead of municipal election run-offs on Saturday.

The people have made a clear message that they will never allow the United National Movement (UNM) to regain office, the anti-state political force which was violent to its people and the church,” Kobakhidze said.
He stated that the Georgian people showed yesterday that ‘they wish for European integration, peace, stability and welfare.’
Kobakhidze said that while in power, the UNM was exerting physical and psychological pressure on the Georgian people.

The GD and the UNM candidates will compete in 17 constituencies.
The GD won all the remaining 44 constituencies in the first round of elections on October 2, and also received 47% of the vote in the proportional part of the elections.
