Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has stated that the country received a million doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine on October 1 and called on the Georgian population to get vaccinated, noting that ‘the Pfizer vaccine is available’ as well.

We do not have any problems with vaccines ... Once again, please get vaccinated and protect our health,” Garibashvili said.

He also said the epidemiological situation in the country is ‘under control.’

I want to tell the population and calm [them] down, we are managing the situation, it is under control,” said Garibashvili.

The Georgian government aims to vaccinate 30,000 people daily in order to reach its vaccination goal of 60% of the country’s population by the end of this year.

However, the daily rate of vaccination has reached the lowest level in the country, with only 6,203 people yesterday.

Therefore, vaccination marathons have been launched involving about 50 villages in various regions of Georgia, and aiming to raise awareness about the benefits of vaccination.

Health officials have announced that the fifth wave of Covid-19 has already started in the country, stating that ‘vaccination is the solution.’

A total of 907,106 people are fully vaccinated in Georgia as of today, amounting to 31.8% of the populace, and 1,013,507 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
