Coronavirus: Georgia reports 5,219 new cases, 2,348 recoveries, 42 deaths

Georgia has reported 5,219 new cases of coronavirus, 2,348 recoveries and 42 deaths in the last 24 hours.

57,301 tests were conducted around the country yesterday. 36,635 of them were rapid tests, while the remaining 20,666 were PCR tests.

45,610 remain infected with COVID-19 in Georgia.

8.79% of tested individuals had COVID-19 in the past 14 days.

The 5,219 new cases were recorded in:

Tbilisi - 1,775 cases
Adjara - 142 cases
Imereti - 907 cases
Kvemo Kartli - 375 cases
Shida Kartli - 442 cases
Guria - 104 cases
Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 339 cases
Kakheti - 879 cases
Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 104 cases
Samtskhe-Javakheti - 101 cases
Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 51 cases

5,679 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 1,300 patients are in the intensive care unit. 269 patients are on artificial ventilation.

38,928 individuals are undergoing treatment at home.

48 individuals remain in quarantine.

Health official announces fifth wave of coronavirus, calls for vaccination

In total, 9,899,896 tests have been conducted in the country so far.

The country has had 674,483 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.

619,285 of the 674,483 patients have recovered, while 9,588 have died from the virus.

As for vaccination, 1,926,893 individuals have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the country so far, 910,872 of which have been fully vaccinated.

31.8% of adult Georgian population fully vaccinated amid fifth wave of COVID-19

A total 31.8% of the adult Georgian population is fully vaccinated as of October 19, while only 6,203 individuals received COVID-19 shots yesterday. Georgia has reported 5,739 new coronavirus cases and 36 deaths in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate of tested individuals has risen to 10.15%.

Georgia has reported 5,739 new cases of coronavirus, 2,082 recoveries and 36 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate has gone up to 10.15% of tested individuals for Covid-19 as of October 18 in comparison to 8.64% of the last two weeks. In total, 56,555 tests have been conducted around the country of which 42,546 were rapid tests, while the remaining 14,009 were PCR tests.

Citizens allegedly given Vitamin C instead of flu shots at Tbilisi clinic

Citizens have allegedly been given Vitamin C injections instead of flu shots at Gogelia clinic in Tbilisi. People at the clinic claim that they were not shown the vaccine vials before being injected, but were asked to pay 75 GEL in advance.

Overall, 53,700 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 33,678 of the 53,700 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 20,022 were PCR tests.
