Salome Zurabishvili left for France on September 26. During her visit the Georgian president has posthumously awarded a number of distinguished Georgians, including Dimitri Amilakhvari.

Dimitri Amilakhvari was a French military officer of Georgian origin and lieutenant colonel of the French Foreign Legion who played an important role in the French resistance against the Nazi occupation during the World War II.
French President Emmanuel Macron has given former Georgian PM and the founder and the current head of the ruling Georgian Dream party Bidzina Ivanishvili the Order of the Legion of Honor, a top French civil award.

The first meeting of a historic, French-Georgian dialogue format, named after the legendary Georgian officer and national hero of France Dimitri Amilakhvari, is scheduled to take place later today in Paris.
