Georgian canoeist Aleksandre Tsivtsivadze wins World Championship in Portugal

Georgian canoeist Aleksandre Tsivtsivadze has won the 2021 ICF Junior & U23 Canoe Sprint World Championship in Montemor-O-Velho, Portugal today.

Tsivtsivadze was the fastest athlete in the men’s junior C1 500 metres final, followed by Maksim Karataev from Russia and Mihai Chihaia from Moldova.

The young Georgian athlete reached the finish line first in 1 minute and 55 seconds.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili congratulated Aleksandre Tsivtsivadze on becoming the world champion. He said that at such a young age, in the conditions of world competition, 'winning the title of champion is an impressive success'.
