Georgia reports 4,247 new cases of coronavirus, 3,053 recoveries, 74 deaths

Georgia has reported 4,247 new cases of coronavirus, 3,053 recoveries and 74 deaths in the past 24 hours. 

In total, 45,100 tests have been conducted around the country of which 26,737 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 18,363 were PCR tests. 

The National Center for Disease Control reports that as of August 28, a total of 1,122,209 vaccinations have been administered in the country.

In total 760,899 people are vaccinated with one dose, which is 26.6% of the adult population. 361,310 people are fully vaccinated, which is 12.7% of the adult population.

The new cases were recorded in: 

  • Tbilisi - 1,755 cases 
  • Adjara - 456 cases 
  • Imereti - 447 cases
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 304 cases 
  • Kakheti - 389 cases
  • Kvemo Kartli - 295 cases 
  • Shida Kartli - 254 cases 
  • Guria - 121 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 102 cases
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti - 86 cases
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 38 cases

Covid-19 has spread in Gldani prison in Tbilisi where about 50 inmates test positive for coronavirus.

Currently 56,693 individuals remain infected with Covid-19, of which:

  • 4,619 patients are undergoing treatment at home
  • 7,546 patients - in hospitals 
  • 3,128 patients - in the clinical-hotels

In addition, 1,624 patients are in critical condition of which 378 are on artificial ventilation.

As of today 55,902 individuals are in self-isolation and 112 individuals are under quarantine.

Since February 26, 2020 Georgia has had 540,449 cases of coronavirus, 476,555 recoveries and 7,175 deaths.
