The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has condemned possible travel tours organised by a Ukrainian travel agency Kuluar Pohod to Georgia’s Russian-occupied Abkhazia region, after an official note submitted by the Georgian embassy in Ukraine, Ukrinform has reported

The Ukrainian MFA spokesperson Oleg Nikolenko has described the travel agency’s decision as ‘absolutely unacceptable,’ noting that authorities and law enforcement agencies are working on the issue ‘to clarify all the circumstances and determine possible legal consequences.’

Like Georgia, we also face Russian aggression and occupation of our territories. We believe the decision of the Kuluar agency in this situation is absolutely unacceptable,” Nikolenko said.

Nikolenko stated that Ukraine’s strategic partnership with Georgia ‘is highly valuable’ and reaffirmed that Ukraine supports Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Georgian embassy to Ukraine said that organising tours to Abkhazia by the Kuluar agency was ‘unacceptable.’

The Kuluar Pohod claims that they were only consulting tourists on routes in Abkhazia and needed equipment, and apologised for the ‘wrong information.’

The agency offers hiking tours in the Georgian mountains, on the Tbilisi-controlled territory.
