Tsotne Koberidze from the Girchi-More Freedom political party will be a joint candidate for vice Tbilisi Mayor of four political parties in the October 2 municipal elections.
The United National Movement opposition party, European Georgia, Girchi-More Freedom and Elene Khoshtaria’s Droa political movement had agreed to present joint candidates for Tbilisi mayor, head of Tbilisi City Assembly and Tbilisi vice mayor.
Nika Melia from the United National Movement has been nominated for Tbilisi mayor, Elene Khoshtaria for the head of Tbilisi City Assembly, while Girchi should have oraganised a primaries to select a candidate for Tbilisi vice mayor.

In the primaries late yesterday Koberidze defeated a fellow member of Girchi-More Freedom Imeda Kldiashvili.
Koberidze has stated that he is ‘well-aware of the big responsibility’ and said that the October 2 elections ‘will be a very special race.’
If we do not defeat the ruling Georgian Dream (candidates) in the race it will be the end of the country,” Koberidze said.
Girchi-More Freedom, European Georgia and Droa will also nominate joint candidates for Tbilisi City Assembly in the coming hours, while the United National Movement will present individual candidates.

The ruling party has renominated Kakha Kaladze for Tbilisi mayor and ‘is sure’ that they will receive more than 50 per cent of votes in the elections.
Georgians remain concerned about the state of the economy and healthcare, and are pessimistic about the direction of the country and the performance of institutions, polls released by the National Democratic Institute and CRRC Georgia earlier today say. According to the polls 61% are likely to vote in the October 2 municipal elections. However, 45% say that none of the parties are closest to their interests and nine per cent state that they do not know whom to vote for.
The European Georgia, Girchi - More Freedom and Movement Droa will nominate joint majoritarian candidates in Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi for the upcoming October 2 local municipal elections on August 15. Droa movement Leader Elene Khoshtaria stated that the municipal elections are ‘special elections, which is essentially a referendum,’ noting that the opposition understands its responsibility before the Georgian population to propose the choice which will ‘give them [Georgian citizens] faith.’
A number of opposition parties have put forward the United National Movement chair Nika Melia for the post of Tbilisi mayor, while Droa movement leader Elene Khoshtaria has been put forward for the City Council (Sakrebulo) chair for the upcoming municipal elections in October.
Georgian Dream ruling party has officially named Kakha Kaladze, Mayor of Tbilisi, as its candidate for a second term in the position, ahead of the municipal elections set to be held in October.
Georgia’s former ambassadors to the US Batu Kutelia and David Sikharulidze, as well as former MP Nino Goguadze have joined a political party Droa founded by former leader of the European Georgia political party Elene Khoshtaria.
The party Anna Dolidze - For the People has nominated its founder Anna Dolidze as a candidate for Tbilisi mayor in the October 2 municipal elections. Anna Dolidze's slogan for local self-government elections will be ‘A mayor for everyone!'. Dolidze promises the people of Tbilisi that she will be the mayor for the people, regardless of their political views, social origin, nationality or ethnicity, and gender.
