Two employees of Imedi hospital have been dismissed for ethical and procedural violations in connection with the death of 27-year-old nurse Megi Bakradze, Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia has stated today.
Bakradze, who went into anaphylactic shock after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine on March 18, died at the First University Clinic of Tbilisi State University the next day.
Tamar Gabunia noted that the Professional Development Council revealed ethical and procedural violations, on the basis of which the management team of Imedi hospital decided to temporarily suspend the two employees.
Gabunia also said that the investigation into the nurse’s death is still underway. As soon as the final reason of the death is known, the council will again discuss the status of the dismissed employees.
Earlier in April three other employees of the hospital were charged by the Prosecutor's Office for providing false information about the death of Megi Bakradze.
The Prosecutor's Office said that two out of the three doctors previously claimed that one of them had provided Bakradze with emergency medical care immediately. Though the investigation found that the mentioned doctor was not with Megi Bakradze when the latter felt unwell after receiving her first shot of the coronavirus vaccine.
