Municipal transport, schools resume operations in Georgia today

Municipal transport, schools and public kindergartens have resumed operations across Georgia starting today. The decision was taken by the Interagency Coordination Council earlier today.
The nationwide curfew remains in effect from 21:00 to 05:00.
In order to boost the process of immunisation, the council has made decision to increase the number of vaccination teams and rooms across the country.
For those unable to register for vaccination on a special website created by the Georgian Health Ministry, the 15 22 hotline is available to register for Covid-19 vaccination by phone.
As of now Georgia has received Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm and Sinovac vaccines.
Registration for vaccination is available at booking.moh.gov.ge.
Georgian Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia says that if the public will not observe coronavirus recommendations and rules the government will have to reimpose restrictions. She stated that coronavirus cases are surging in Georgia and that the country ‘is technically ready’ for a third wave of coronavirus. However, Gabunia said that ‘doctors are very much stressed and tired’ and it will be ‘hard for them’ to serve thousands of Covid-19 patients on a daily basis.
Georgia has reported 776 new cases of coronavirus, 1,329 recoveries and 16 deaths in the past 24 hours. 31,982 tests have been conducted around the country on the weekend. 20,394 of the 31,982 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 11,588 were PCR tests. The country has had 326,441 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020. 5.56 per cent of tested individuals had Covid-19 in the past 14 days.
Individuals over 45 years of age will be able to get vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine, Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia announced today.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has approved the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine for emergency use in all countries, giving the green light for this vaccine to be rolled out globally, including in Georgia.
Georgia's high school seniors have closed out the last day of classes with the ringing of the 'Last Bell' today. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili congratulated high school seniors on the completion of their secondary studies and wished them success 'in taking new steps in the path of your life'.
