Georgia received $199.7 million from abroad in December 2020, which is 15.9 per cent more than the amount in December 2019, says the National Bank of Georgia.
More than one-third of money transfers (41.4%) come in Georgia from the European Union which amounted to $82.67 million in December 2020.
The vast majority (94.8%) of all money transfers from abroad came from 19 largest partner countries.
Russia (20.39%), Italy (15.93%) and Greece (11.23%) were the largest remittance senders in December 2020.
$24.7 million was transferred from Georgia to foreign countries in December 2020, which is 3.4 per cent less compared to the same period of the previous year.
