October 2020: money transfers to Georgia up 18.6%

Georgia received $181.7 million from abroad in October 2019, which is 18.6% more than the amount in October 2018, says the National Bank of Georgia.

Russia ($35.20 million), Italy ($27.50 million) and the United States ($21.25 million) were the largest remittance senders in October 2020.

Overall, the vast majority (94.%) of all money transfers from abroad came from 18 countries.

After Russia, Italy and, the United States other countries regularly sending money transfers to Georgia in October 2020 included:

  • Greece - $19.74 million
  • Israel – $13.78 million
  • Ukraine – $10.95 million
  • Turkey – $10.09 million
  • Germany – $7.90 million
  • Azerbaijan – $5.33 million
  • Spain – $4.50 million
  • France – $3.01 million
  • Poland – $2.51 million
  • United Kingdom – $1.88 million
  • Kazakhstan – $1.81 million
  • Canada – $1.72 million
  • Ireland - $1.50 million
  • Cyprus – $1.09 million
  • Armenia - $1.05 million

Last month, remittances leaving Georgia totalled $23.9 million, as compared to $22.5 million in October 2019.
