Film director Dito Tsintsadze earned the latest plaudits for his feature Inhale-Exhale with the Nika Award from the Russian Cinematographic Arts Academy on Sunday.
The 2019 work was named the recipient of the prize for Best Film of the CIS, Baltics and Georgia at the event held in Russia since its inception in 1987.
The latest ceremony saw prizes handed out for films produced in 2019 and 2020. The Georgian filmmaker's drama released two years ago and was singled out for prizes at the Shanghai and Minsk international film festivals that year.
At the Chinese film event it earned two wins - the Best Actress Award for Salome Demuria and the Grand Jury Prize for the director - while in the capital of Belarus Demuria again received the prize for Best Actress.
In the screenplay, Irina, a former doctor, returns home following a long prison sentence, only to find herself having to regain the trust of those around her in a bid to start a new life.
Rusudan Glurjidze, an award-winning director herself, worked as producer on the film.
