Georgian Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia says that 3,600 of 4,400 beds in hospitals for Covid-19 patients are already in use because of the recent increase of new infections.

Georgia has reported 1,310 new cases of coronavirus, 632 recoveries and 12 deaths in the past 24 hours.

Gabunia says that the government may add covid hotels.

3.38 per cent of tested individuals had Covid-19 in the past 14 days.

Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze said last week that if more than four per cent of tested individuals test positive for coronavirus in two consecutive weeks, the government of Georgia is likely to impose coronavirus restrictions, including lockdown.

Head of Georgia’s Infectious Diseases and AIDs Centre Tengiz Tsertsvadze has stated that according to the new survey 35.5 percent of the adult population in Tbilisi has already had the coronavirus.

He stated that one-third of the 35.5 per cent of randomly selected 903 individuals did not know they had or had earlier contracted the virus.

The country has had 299,038 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.

282,869 of the 299,038 patients have recovered, while 3,971 have died from the virus.

Georgian Health officials say that around 650,000 individuals in the country (unofficially) have already had coronavirus.
