Georgia has suspended its agreement with Chinese Bioeasy company as the company recalled its production from the market after several of their rapid tests for COVID-19 showed incorrect results.

Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze stated earlier today that the agreement for the purchase of the tests was suspended before the transaction was made.

Now we are negotiating with other companies to buy rapid tests,” Tikaradze said.

She stated that the 1,000 rapid tests Georgia had received from the Chinese government as a gift are of high quality, not produced by Bioeasy, and are being used in Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities.

Since February 26, 2020 Georgia has had 81 confirmed cases of the virus.  Two were foreign citizens who left the country earlier this month via a charter flight.

As of now there are 66 patients in the country infected with the virus, including several minors.
