Georgia buys 30,000 rapid coronavirus tests

The Georgian Ministry of Health has bought 30,000 rapid coronavirus tests with the help of the World Bank’s 'Emergency COVID-19 Response Project.'

The antibody tests are made by a Chinese company which has a license from the Chinese government and supplies tests to the USA and other European countries.

The company claims their tests are very accurate. Austria has bought 200,000 tests, while more than 200,000 tests have been delivered to Germany from this company. The USA has bought 200,000 and will buy an additional 500,000 from the company.

The tests are brought to the warehouse of the Ministry of Health in Expo Georgia and will be distributed to relevant clinics and institutions.

Georgia has reported six new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 713. 

475 of the 713 patients have recovered, while 12 others have died. 

As of May 20, 226 people remain infected with COVID-19, while the number stood at 239 yesterday. 

The coronavirus infection rate continues to slow in Georgia over the past several days.
