Gov’t-run coronavirus information portal to add minority languages

As of now stopcov.ge is available in Georgian, English and Azerbaijani languages.

Governmental webpage stopcov.ge, which provides information, news and updates on the coronavirus situation in the country, will be available in languages spoken by ethnic minorities in the country. 

The Azerbaijani language has already been added to the page, while the Armenian language will be added in the coming days. 

The Georgian Public Broadcaster is providing information on the virus for ethnic minorities in their languages.

In Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities, which are inhabited by ethnic minorities, an active media campaign has been launched regarding the virus, as the municipalities are in lockdown due to several confirmed cases of COVID-19. 

The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus has reached 73 in Georgia, with nine people having recovered since the beginning of the outbreak.

Two of the 73 are Austrian citizens who have already returned home via a chartered flight. 

As of now there are 62 people inside the country infected with the virus. 

The new cases are connected with the Marneuli region of Georgia and the US.
