Georgian Health Ministry provides Republican Hospital with 30 artificial respirators

Georgia’s Ministry of Health has given 30 artificial respirators to the Central Republican Hospital in Tbilisi, where patients with the new coronavirus - COVID-19 symptoms are under the observation of doctors. 

The equipment is important for managing severe cases caused by the respiratory infection, reports the Ministry of Health.

The Minister of Health of Georgia Ekaterine Tikaradze said that currently there is no need to use artificial respirators at this moment.

The Central Republican Hospital has 50 artificial respirators in total. We have found 500 more respirators in the private sector, which will also be used step by step if the need arises”, said Tikaradze.

As for now, there are 46 patients in the Central Republican Hospital with respiratory infection symptoms.

Seven individuals had a fever yesterday, though all of them tested negative for the coronavirus. Three more will be tested today for COVID-19. Regardless of the test results all of them will stay in the hospital under observation of medics, as they have fever”, said Levan Gopodze, the director of the Central Republican Hospital.

Georgia confirmed four new cases of coronavirus earlier today, with the total number of infected individuals in the country standing at 37.

Since February 26, 2020, Georgia has had 38 confirmed cases of COVID-19, however, one patient recovered and Was discharged on March 16.

As of now, 1,130 individuals are under quarantine in Georgia.
