Georigan wines on display at 'Vinexpo New York' fair in New York

Georgian wine producers have presented their wines at Vinexpo New York, which took place in New York on 2-3 March.

Vinexpo New York is the largest trade event that focuses on the North American wine and spirits market. 

12 Georgian wine producers were presented at the event including Teliani Valley, Winery Khareba, Askaneli, Qimerioni and  Kvareli Cellar.

Wine professionals, media and wine business representatives had the opportunity to taste  Georgian wines at the event. 

Participating in the 'Vinexpo New York' will support the diversification of the Georgian wine market, increase awareness of Georgian wine and increase the export of Georgian wines to the US," said Head of the National Wine Agency of Georgia Levan Mukhuzla. 

Participation of Georgian wine producers in the event was supported by the National Wine Agency of Georgia.

Mekhuzla said that the export of Georgian wine has been increasing to the US market in the last five years.

In 2019 Georgia exported 700,000 bottles of wines to the US which is 50 per cent more compared to the previous year. 

Georgia exported 94 million bottles of wine to 53 countries in 2019, which is nine percent more compared to 2018 and the highest export volume in the history of independent Georgia, said the Georgian National Wine Agency. 

Meanwhile, Georgia exported 31.6 million (+58%) bottles of Georgian brandy and  625,000 bottles of Chacha (+48%) abroad in 2019.
