Georgia reports 1,097 new coronavirus cases, 3,208 recoveries, 25 deaths in 24 hours

A total of 1,097 cases of coronavirus, 3,208 recoveries and 25 deaths have been reported over the last 24 hours in Georgia.
Out of the 1,097 new cases:
- 484 were reported in Tbilisi
- 185 were reported in Imereti
- 84 were reported in Kvemo Kartli
- 81 were reported in Adjara
- 63 were reported in Shida Kartli
- 61 were reported in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti
- 61 were reported in Kakheti
- 30 were reported in Mtskheta-Mtianeti
- 26 were reported in Guria
- 17 were reported in Samtskhe-Javaheti
- 5 were reported in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti
The new cases have been confirmed after conducting 8,394 tests throughout the country, including 4,401 PCR tests and 3,993 antigen tests.
As of now Georgia has confirmed 221,605 cases of COVID-19 since late February, including 203,547 recoveries and 2,377 deaths. 15,655 individuals remain infected with the virus.

Archbishop Iakob of Bodbe, who recently tested positive for coronavirus, is currently undergoing treatment at First University Clinic in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi.
Meanwhile, police continues to monitor adhesion to regulations aimed at preventing the further spread of the virus.

The Georgian Interior Ministry again calls on citizens to adhere to the coronavirus-related regulations introduced on November 26.
Failure to abide by the obligation to wear a face mask in public is punishable by a fine of 20 GEL. Meanwhile, violation of the rules of isolation and quarantine shall result in administrative liability and a fine to the amount of 2,000 GEL for individuals and 10,000 GEL for a legal entity.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia and Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus spoke of the global pandemic, Georgia’s efforts to curb spread of coronavirus and the vaccination process during a phone conversation earlier today.
A 23-year-old doctor has been found dead at Aversi hospital in Marneuli district. The local Marneuli radio reports that the young man, who had recently recovered from coronavirus, has allegedly died from a blood clot.
The Georgian government will use all the instruments to reduce prices on medicines, said Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia earlier today.
A total of 1,784 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Georgia over the last 24 hours after conducting 14,421 tests. Meanwhile, 4,119 people have recovered, outnumbering the new cases; while 39 individuals have died.
